Dear Arignel, my respected and trusted pupil,
You've unlocked the riddle. You've solved what couldn't be solved. You have likely seen the memory of what I once saw.
I tell you now, Arignel, that all that I saw, all that I experienced in that brief time behind the veil, was what drove me to not only write what I knew to be true, but to hide it as a riddle, as a secret that only my successor could ever decipher. It is that knowledge, that truth that I found, that all things, whether they be inconsequential to the naked eye, or vastly affecting, are not just here as God wills it, because we, and all that we know, see, feel, or comprehend is God itself.
Consider Buddhists and their meditation. While seeking for their truth, they turn inward to find it. Buddha was not a god, as you know, but to the faith of Buddhism, he was the first Enlightened man. He found the truth by turning his mind inward to find what lies beyond the mundane. He may very well have seen what I saw, and saw fit to teach that the world itself, and all things in it are a part of a greater whole. He taught not to interfere with the whole, and instead to focus one's attention to walk within it, not disturbing the order of what my brother likes to call 'The Ineffable Plan.'
There is no plan, however. Not as we know it. We are like the molecules that make up a body more vast than we could ever understand. We move at seemingly random, doing as we feel is necessary. And it is, all of it is. While you may feel inconsequential, limited in your capacity, you, me, all that we know, makes up a great part of existence. Good and Evil exist, that much is true, but it exists as a force which lies within the greater whole. Demons are just as important to the balance as angels are, as humans are. For what would make the middle path, if there were not the left and right to settle on either sides of it?
When I told you that we live in a very Fortean world, Arignel, it was true -- the way we perceive reality is largely what makes reality, itself. God could very well be manifesting as a being, a tangible personality, but only because there are those who believe it is possible for Him to do so. My brothers believe it to be true, and so it is, for them. I also was susceptible to believing it, as well you know, even when I had the truth laid before me from the start. There are points where the psyche of higher beings, be they human, angel, or otherwise, can manifest what they desire. It is how angels even work. We, like I've told you before, are not unlike ants in a colony, working for the betterment of reality as a whole, but how do we do that? Where does that drive originate? It comes from what Jung termed a collective unconscious. A hivemind, so to speak. We are all connected to each other -- every being is, but specifically angels to angels -- as a way to better serve. When one Falls, one becomes disconnected from that psychic bond, and that is what most of us consider a disconnection from God Himself. God, in the perception of angels, is what I've found to be nothing less than our own common desire. And while it is disheartening to think that what we've been led to believe is a figurehead and Father is only the common drives of our kind, it is also not out of being misled. For we are truly doing God's work. This is why I told you that despite this revelation, you must persevere and do this as if it truly was the wish of a single entity, because in a way, it is. It isn't a bad thing that angels are doing, for they are truly good, truly the embodiment of love and compassion, as we were made to be. We are simply doing it for the purpose of something far, far greater than a single entity. We are doing it for God as God truly is.
What made us remains a mystery -- perhaps it was simply the need for us that created us as we are. After all, what created the Titans of Greece, the Proto-Deities of Assyria? They simply became, no questions or answers are necessary for their existence. We are like them in that way, but different - we are not Gods, but agents of a higher consciousness. What does it matter why we are? We are, and we have a job to do. We are all parts of a collective that singularly makes up what could be considered perhaps a brain; the guiding force behind a greater body.
Just remember, Arignel, while it may not be as you imagined it would truly be, it is far, far more expansive than that, and that alone should put drive in you to do better than I ever have. I have faith in you.
Love and respect,
Raziel
